The Weatherization Assistance Program provides education and material installation for low-income persons to aid in the reduction of heating and cooling expenses. Materials such as attic and wall insulation, weather-stripping, door and window repair, caulking, etc. have helped individuals with energy conservation and increased their comfort of living. Labor for the installation of these materials is sub-contracted to private contractors. During 2010 services were provided in Andrews, Borden, Dawson, Ector, Fisher, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Martin, Midland, Mitchell, Nolan, Scurry and Upton Counties.
