  Emergency Assistance Processing Delays

Due to the overwhelming response for emergency assistance, the processing time will take longer than usual. Please continue paying your bill and make payment arrangements with your Utility Provider/Landlord as needed so that your services are not disconnected or evicted. You will be notified when the West Texas Opportunities, Inc receives your application.

Scanned documents required

In order to complete your application and receive services, the following scanned documentation is required. Documents can be scanned using a desk scanner, or by taking clear pictures of the documents with a phone or tablet.

If your application is incomplete due to missing one of the following scanned documents, you application will take longer to process.

The following documents are needed to process your service request.

1.  Citizenship or Immigration Status

  • U.S. Passport
  • U.S. Birth Certificate issued by the State Bureau of Vital Statistics. 
  • A hospital birth certificate or Verification of Birth Facts ALONG with early shot records or early school records may be used in place of certified birth certificate. 
  • Certificate of Naturalization or U.S. Citizenship.
  • U.S. American Indian or Alaska Native Tribal enrollment or membership card with photo.
  • Immigration Status-Permanent Resident Card / Resident Alien Card or similar Immigration Documents.   
  • *** If you do not have any of the documents above, please call the office for other acceptable documents.**                                                                                           

2.   Identity

  • Social Security cards for everyone in the household.
  • For anyone 18 years of age and older- Valid Government issued photo ID such as a Driver's License or Military ID
  • For anyone under 18 years of age- You can use parent(s)' documents if the parent(s) live in the household. If not, Shot records or school records.
  • ** If you do not have any of the documents above, please call the office for other acceptable documents**    

3.   Proof of any type of earned or unearned income received in the past 30 days for all household members. 

  • Employment wages (all check stubs for weekly, bi-weekly or monthly wages for the last 30 days.
  • Self-Employment wage documentation.
  • Social Security / Supplemental Security Income (SSI) award letter for 2023 (bank statements will not be accepted)
  • TANF benefits for 2023.
  • HUD Utility Reimbursement Check for current month.
  • Unemployment benefit or workers compensation statement of benefits.
  • Private Pension Documents for 2023.
  • VA Retirement / Disability for 2023.
  • Child Support Statement or current payment listing form from Attorney General's Office.
  • Any other source of income.
  • Any checks received in the past 30 days for all household members. (Do not scan W2 tax forms)
  • Worker's compensation.

4.  If no income or partial income has been earned or received for the last 30 days for any household member, age 18 or older, you must complete. 

5.  If any member of the household is Disabled, please provide proof of disability or complete:

 Applications will not be processed without required documents listed above. Due to increased volume of applications, please allow up to 15 business days for processing.

 

Eligibility Requirements for all Programs

  • Participants must be a resident of Andrews, Borden, Dawson, Ector, Fisher, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Loving, Martin, Midland, Mitchell, Nolan, Scurry, Reeves, Upton, Ward & Winkler Counties. Some assistance is only available in certain cities in WTO, I. Service Area.
  • Most programs require participants to be at a specific level of household income according to the Federal Income Guidelines.

Depending upon the number of requests, funding for some programs may be limited or unavailable.
